The day started out well. I woke up in the morning and had my “salt water flush” (32oz of warm filtered water + 2 teaspoons of non iodine sea salt).
Now that I’m learning to listen to myself I realized that I’ve been thirsty! Wow! I didn’t even know how much and for how long until I paid attention to it today. I probably drank about 1.5 gallons of water today (out of thirst). Of course I also drank my lime water with maple syrup and cayenne pepper throughout the day, and besides that, I also had a teaspoon of organic unrefined coconut oil. I gotta tell you… it was kind of disgusting to have this “lemonade” again after doing the master cleanse 2 times in the past. I just gotta stick to it.
The first days are always the hardest. I remember the first time I did the MC, I really disliked how it all tasted, but by day 3 the highlight of my day was to lick the maple syrup off the spoon after using it. Hehehehe… So I know it will get better.
I was going to do some yoga today, but then I chose not to. I decided to just take today to rest and focus on the cleanse since it was the first day, just in case I needed the energy somehow. But my goal is to start doing yoga daily to gather some spiritual energy, as well as read my devotion book and bible for strength.
My hunger level was pretty close to zero which was really good, but my head was about to EXPLODE towards the end of the day. I almost reached for a couple tylenol pills to ease my pain before I went to bed, but if I did that he whole cleansing process would stop. So I sucked it up and focused on healing instead of hurting. It was hard though!
I went to bed still with a headache but I know it was worth it.
If you ever want to do a cleanse in your future, here is what you should expect to feel:
Because you are getting rid of toxins from your body, cleansing will give you physical and mental symptoms. These symptoms will vary in intensity depending on your level of toxicity. If it’s too hard for you to deal with your symptoms don’t be scared because these symptoms will go away with time and you will feel better than you ever felt before. This is just one of the reasons why I think everyone should cleanse and/or detox their bodies at some point in their life.
Some of the symptoms include headaches, clogged sinuses, constipation, diarrhea, cough, fatigue, fever, flu or cold-like symptoms, gas, irritability, moodiness, rashes, stomachache, vomit, profound sweating, change in tongue color, and skin breakouts.
The last 2 times I did a cleanse, people around me thought I was sick. This is normal! You need to recognize and accept that the symptoms you are going to have are not created by an ailment but by a cure. Your body is getting rid of toxins and the result of that are some unpleasant symptoms; but as your body gets clean we feel 110% better than before the cleanse!
The most important thing to do while we are doing any type of detox or cleanse is to REST. — That’s what I’m trying to focus on right now! 🙂
So day 1 was pretty easy.
